Bull River Campground Fishing is a short, easy outing in the Cabinet Ranger District of Montana's Kootenai National Forest, about a mile from the Bull River campground and the Bull River Pavilion. The route is an out-and-back that gains about 42 feet in elevation, from a low of 2,181 feet to a high of 2,230 feet, and it is open year-round. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July and August highs around 82°F with lows in the mid-40s and the fewest wet days of the year. Winter brings highs in the low 30s and regular snow days from December through February. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows bikes. Triangle Pond, a lake fishing spot, lies about a mile away, and the Blacktail Creek hike is roughly 2.8 miles off.
