Three Frogs Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Darby Ranger District of Montana's Bitterroot National Forest, about 4.5 miles from the town of Darby. It sits among a cluster of campgrounds and trails, making it an easy base for exploring the Como Lake area. Vault toilets are the only facility on site, and the campground is not reservable. That makes it a good choice for a spontaneous trip rather than a planned stay. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Darby show July highs around 82°F with lows near 50°F, while winter highs stay in the low to mid 30s. Upper Como Campground and the Como Lake Loop National Recreation Trail are both about 0.1 mile away, and Woods Cabin is about 0.2 mile off. For a longer outing, the Como Ridge Trail lies about 1.2 miles away.
