Hardvark Boulder is a bouldering area in the Darby Ranger District of Montana's Bitterroot National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. It sits among a cluster of other bouldering spots, with Roadside Boulders about 0.1 mile away and Pullout Boulders about 0.2 mile away, so it works well as one stop in a short stretch of bouldering. The area has six boulder problems, all rated on the V scale from V3+ to V7. Justin's Arete is a V4, Lock off Lichen Lips is a V5, and PBR Power is the hardest at V7. The routes are all bouldering, so there is no climbing on rock faces here. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Darby, at a similar elevation, show July highs around 82°F with lows near 50°F, while winter highs stay in the low to mid 30s. Lake Como Campground and Three Frogs Campground are both about 2.3 miles away for an overnight stay.
