Cave Mountain Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Rocky Mountain Ranger District of the Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest in Montana. It sits within the national forest's boundaries, and the land is managed by the Forest Service. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Blackleaf, which sits about 900 feet lower than the campground, show July and August highs around 80°F with lows in the mid-40s. Winters are cold, with January highs near 37°F and lows around 9°F. The campground is not reservable, so plan on arriving and securing a spot on site. Several other destinations lie close by. Indian Head Rock and Route Creek Pass are both hikes within a mile, and the Tears of a Clown climbing area is about 0.7 miles away. Green Gulch Dispersed Camp Campground is roughly 2.6 miles off.
