Bitterroot Flat Campground is a Forest Service campground in the Missoula Ranger District of Lolo National Forest, set in the Rock Creek drainage along Rock Creek. It sits within a rugged canyon environment of ponderosa pine and Douglas-fir, and the Rock Creek area is known for its blue ribbon trout stream. The campground has flush toilets, and a fee is charged for stays here. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Stevensville show June highs around 75°F and September highs around 74°F, while July and August average near 85°F. That station sits about 925 feet lower, so temperatures at the campground run a bit cooler. Several hikes start within a few miles, including Wahlquist Ridge at about 2.7 miles and Hutsinpilar Ridge at about 2.9 miles.
