Linking Trail is a short, easy hike in southeastern Michigan, about 2.7 miles from the town of Salem. The route is 1.2 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 53 feet, and it is rated easy. The trail is a point-to-point route, and the climb is gentle. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.48 miles in, with a 10% grade. The high point is 976 feet, and the low point is 910 feet. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Farmington show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 83°F. Several other trails sit close by. West Loop is 0.2 miles away, Bluebird Meadows is 0.4 miles away, and the ITC Corridor Regional Trail is also 0.4 miles away. Paddlers can reach the Middle River Rouge, about 4.9 miles off.
