The Split Boulder is a bouldering area on Lynn Water Supply Land in Massachusetts, a cluster of boulders with routes ranging from V1 to V8. It sits among several other named boulders, including Sponsor Boulder, Behemoth Boulder and Evil Boulder, all within about a tenth of a mile. The climbing here is all bouldering, with 13 routes on the V scale. The easiest is Working Overtime at V1, and the hardest is A Clear Mind at V8. Fire Sale is a V4, and The Maze is a V6. Pete Otis and Bob Parrot are among the climbers who have first ascents on the list. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Reading run from highs around 70°F in May to about 75°F in September, with July the warmest at about 84°F. Winter brings regular snow days, with January averaging eight. The closest neighbors are other boulders, with Sponsor Boulder and Behemoth Boulder each about 0.1 mile away. Mountain bikers can head to Shark's Tooth East, about 1.1 miles off, and hikers to Eagle Rock Trail, about 1.5 miles away.
