West Ledge Trail is a moderate out-and-back hike in Acadia National Park in Maine, managed by the National Park Service. The trail is about 0.9 miles long, and the round trip covers roughly 1.8 miles with a total elevation gain of about 780 feet. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.76 miles in, where the grade reaches 31 percent. The high point is 903 feet, and the trail starts at 189 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 79°F with lows near 60°F, and the station sits about 430 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. A fee is charged for the hike. Plan on about an hour for the round trip. Bernard Mountain Trail and Sluceway Trail are both within about a mile and a half, and Beech Cliff Bouldering is about 2.7 miles away.
