Ship Harbor is a short, easy hike in Acadia National Park in Maine, managed by the National Park Service. The route is about 1.2 miles long and gains about 45 feet of elevation, with the steepest stretch around 0.87 miles in, where the grade reaches about 6 percent. It starts at a low point of about 10 feet and ends at a high point of about 45 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July highs reach about 79°F with lows near 60°F, according to averages from a nearby weather station. That station sits about 10.5 miles away and roughly 425 feet lower than the hike, so temperatures on the trail run a bit cooler. The hike is not wheelchair accessible. Bikes and horses are not allowed. A fee is charged. The nearest trail is Wonderland, about 0.4 miles away, and Valley Cove Trail, Great Notch Trail and Mansell Mountain Trail all lie about 5 miles off.
