The Rockcastle River climbing area in Kentucky sits within the Rockcastle River Wildlife Management Area, part of the London Ranger District of Daniel Boone National Forest. The land is managed by State Fish and Wildlife. The area offers nine climbing routes, seven of which are sport routes and two are traditional. Grades range from 5.6 to 5.10+, with the hardest route, Parish Pie, at 5.10+. Sport climbers will find several options in the 5.10 range, including Redheaded Stepchild and Ironic. Thigh Gap is the only traditional route listed. For comfortable weather, aim for late spring or early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in London run to highs around 77°F in May and 80°F in September, with September also seeing the fewest wet days of the year. Other outdoor options are close by. The Sheltowee Trace mountain biking route is about 2.7 miles away, and the Double Falls Trail and Goodwater hikes are each within about 4 miles. Bee Rock Campground, about 6.3 miles off, offers a place to stay.
