Shawnee Solitaire is a bouldering area in Shawnee National Forest, within the Mississippi Bluffs Ranger District in southern Illinois. The Forest Service manages the land. The area's routes are all bouldering, and the grade range runs from V3-4 to V6. Six routes are listed, including Shawnee Solitaire itself at V6, along with The Fool's Progress at V4+ and The Fridge at V5-6. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically May and October. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Carbondale put May highs around 77°F and October highs around 70°F, while July highs reach about 88°F.
