Double Bridge is an easy out-and-back hike in Shawnee National Forest's Hidden Springs Ranger District in southern Illinois, about 2.6 miles long with a total elevation gain of 641 feet. The trail rises from a low point of 384 feet to a high of 673 feet, and the steepest stretch comes at about 0.5 miles in, with a grade of 12 percent. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show October highs around 71°F with lows near 46°F, and May highs around 77°F. Summer runs hotter, with July highs near 88°F. The trail is open year-round, and the trip takes about an hour. Horses are allowed, but bikes are not. West Cedar Lake Trail and Trigg Tower both lie within a mile, and climbers can find The Roost about 3 miles away. Redbud Campground - Bell Smith Springs is roughly 7 miles off.
