Cedar Lake Trail is a 3.2-mile out-and-back hike in the Mississippi Bluffs Ranger District of Shawnee National Forest in southern Illinois, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is rated hard, with a total climb of 708 feet and a steepest stretch of about 13% at roughly 1.1 miles in. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Anna run to highs around 71°F in April and 73°F in October, while July highs average about 90°F. The trail is on natural surface and allows horses. Bikes are not permitted. Cove Hollow sits just 0.1 mile away, and Wolf Den Hollow Loop is about 0.7 mile off. Climbers can head to Moon Rock, about 1.3 miles away, and Cedar Lake is about 1.5 miles away.
