Cambr Brown Trail is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 9.3 miles in Paul Douglas Preserve, a regional agency-managed preserve in Illinois. The trail starts at about 817 feet and climbs to a high point of 858 feet, with the steepest stretch at roughly half a mile in, where the grade reaches about 10%. The climb is gentle overall, with a total elevation gain of about 42 feet. Late spring and early fall tend to be the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Barrington run to highs around 69°F in May and 72°F in September, with July the warmest month at about 81°F. The Cambr Yellow Trail and Cambr Tan Trail both lie within a mile of Cambr Brown Trail, and the Cambr Orange Trail is about a mile away. For paddling, Salt Creek is roughly 4.6 miles off.
