Morning Glory Spire is a climbing area in Idaho's City of Rocks National Reserve, managed by the National Park Service. The reserve's National Park Service land unit puts the spire within easy reach of several other climbing areas and trails, so it makes a natural anchor for a day or longer visit to the reserve's rock. Thirteen climbing routes sit on the spire, with grades ranging from 5.5 to 5.12c. Seven are trad routes and five are sport routes. Among the named routes, "Easiest Route" is a trad at 5.5, "Skyline" is a trad at 5.8, and "Power Tools" is a sport route at 5.12c. The spire's highest-grade route, "Power Tools," was first climbed by Tedd Thompson and Darius Azein in 1987. Late spring and early fall tend to be the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from the nearby Rosette, Utah weather station put June highs around 75°F and September highs around 74°F, while July climbs to about 86°F. The spire sits close to several other climbing areas and trails. Anteater - West and Anteater - East are both about 0.1 mile away, and the South Fork Circle Creek Trail starts just as close. Independence Lakes Campground, about 9.7 miles away, offers a place to stay.
