JR's Place is a climbing area in Idaho managed by the State Department of Land, sitting among several other climbing spots within a short distance. Send Town, The Head Wall and Juniper Wall all lie about 0.1 mile away, so the area works well as a cluster of sport climbing options. The climbing here is all sport, with seven routes spread across grades from 5.9 to 5.12. Caveman and Rastaman are both 5.9, and Astro Poodle is 5.10. Rough Rider is 5.10+, and AstroBear is the hardest at 5.12. The routes were bolted by climbers including Chris Barnes, Vernon Phinney, Mike Engle and Jeff Roads, with first ascents dating from 2016 through 2018. For timing, late spring and early fall are the most comfortable. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Massacre Rocks State Park show May highs around 68°F and September highs around 77°F, while July and August average in the upper 80s. Nearby, the River Trail and Pohogwe Trail are both about 5 miles away. Rock Creek, a canoeing spot, is about 6.6 miles off, and Pipeline Campground is about 8.7 miles away.
