Upper Grand is a mountain biking route in Idaho's Challis Field Office, managed by the Bureau of Land Management. It starts at about 6,644 feet and reaches a high of about 6,647 feet, so the climb is short but a bit of a workout. The route is roughly 4 miles long and is rated moderate, with the steepest stretch around the 1.6-mile mark at about 12%. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Challis show July highs around 87°F and lows near 52°F, and September highs around 74°F. That station sits well below the route, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The Upper Blue View mountain bike trail and the Lower Blue View hike both start about 0.1 mile away. Chukar is a mountain biking trail about half a mile off, and the Challis-Yankee Fork Ranger District offers river fishing about 2.6 miles away.
