Trail D is a mountain biking route in Idaho's Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District, part of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is an out-and-back of about 2.2 miles with a total elevation gain of 724 feet. The climb starts at about 3,590 feet, and the steepest section comes early, with a 25% grade at roughly 0.12 miles. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 81°F and lows near 52°F, while winter highs stay in the mid-30s. Trail 29 "Big Trees" and Cave Trail both sit about 0.3 miles away, and Trail B is a hike about 0.6 miles off. For camping, Mokins Bay Campground is about 4.3 miles away.
