Spring Creek Trail is a 12.6-mile out-and-back route in Idaho's Sawtooth National Recreation Area, part of the Sawtooth National Forest. It climbs steadily from a starting elevation of 7,757 feet to a high point of 7,823 feet, with the steepest section around 5.3 miles in, where the grade reaches 20%. The total elevation gain is 2,509 feet, so the trail is best approached as a full day. Summer is the most comfortable time to ride. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Stanley run to highs around 80°F in July and August, with lows near 39°F, and July and August see the fewest wet days of the year. The trail sits within the Forest Service's land, and Chemeketan Campground, about 6 miles away, offers a place to stay. Within a few tenths of a mile are the Rip and Tear and Spring Creek hikes, and Billy Goat Buttress, a climbing area, lies about 6 miles off.
