South Fork Camas is a hard hike in Idaho's Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness, on the Middle Fork Ranger District of the Salmon-Challis National Forest. The trail is an out-and-back that climbs from about 5,890 feet to about 8,589 feet, with a total elevation gain of 2,698 feet over a route of about 17.6 miles. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. The trail is natural-surfaced and allows horses, but not bikes. That makes it a viable option for riders on horseback, though the climb is steep and the distance is long. The route starts close to two other hikes, Fly Creek and White Goat Ridge, both about 0.2 miles away. Flume-S Fk Camas and Camas-Eddy Creek are each within about 1.5 miles. For an overnight base, West Fork Morgan Creek Campground sits about 9 miles away.
