Redfish Lake is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 5.3 miles in Idaho's Sawtooth National Recreation Area, part of the Sawtooth National Forest. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail starts at about 6,494 feet, rising to a high point of 6,627 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Stanley show July and August highs around 80°F with only five to six wet days a month, while winter highs stay in the 20s. The trail lies within easy reach of several other spots. Redfish - Stanley is just 0.1 mile away, and Chinook Bay Campground and Mountain View Campground are both within a third of a mile. The Salmon River, about 3.7 miles off, offers river fishing.
