Neely Cove is a moderate hike of about 3.9 miles in the Palisades Ranger District of Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 1,537 feet, starting at roughly 8,210 feet and reaching about 9,788 feet at the high point. The route is on natural surface, and both horses and bikes are allowed. That makes it a flexible option for riders and pack animals as well as hikers. Lorain Canyon and Starvation Peak both sit within a mile of the trail, and Sheep Camp is about 1.5 miles away. For an overnight base, Big Elk Campground & Group Area is about 7.7 miles off.
