Lost Creek is a moderate hike of about 5.6 miles in the Coeur d'Alene River Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 2,117 feet, taking you from a low point of roughly 2,744 feet to a high of about 4,787 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Mullan, Idaho, run to highs around 81°F in July and August, and the station sits well below the trail, so temperatures up high run cooler. Bikes are allowed on the natural-surface trail. The Lost Creek Trail starts just 0.2 miles away, and the East Fork Lost Creek Trail is about 1.4 miles off.
