Green Island Lake is a short, easy hike in Idaho's Boise National Forest, within the Mountain Home Ranger District. The trail is about half a mile long, with a total elevation gain of about 15 feet, so it's a gentle out-and-back that starts and ends at nearly the same level. The route is natural-surfaced and open to bikes, and it stays within the Forest Service's year-round open season. The high point on the trail is about 8,143 feet, and the low point is about 7,995 feet, so the climb is minimal. Fiddle Lake and Little Lookout Lake are both within a third of a mile, and Rainbow Basin is about 0.7 miles away. For an overnight stay, Big Roaring River Lake Campground is about 1.4 miles off.
