Fogg Lake is an easy out-and-back hike of less than a mile in Idaho's Payette National Forest, within the McCall Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced with biking allowed. The hike starts at about 7,350 feet and climbs to a high point of 7,580 feet, with a total round-trip gain of 537 feet. The steepest stretch comes early, about a third of the way along, with a grade of about 14 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical July averages from a nearby weather station at Deadwood Lodge run to a high of 82°F and a low of 40°F. That station sits roughly 1,600 feet lower, so temperatures on the trail run cooler. The trip takes about half an hour, and the route stays open year-round. Kennally Creek Pack Trail and Paddy Flat Lake Fork Pack Trail both lie within about 2 miles. Jug Handle Bouldering offers climbing about 2.5 miles away, and Kennally Creek Campground is about 5 miles off.
