The trail gains about 496 feet from its low point at 5,746 feet to a high of 6,547 feet. Bikes and horses are allowed, and the trail's natural surface makes it a ride for both riders and pack animals. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Bear Lake, Utah, show July highs around 83°F with lows near 55°F, while winter highs there hover in the mid-30s. The trail is open year-round.
