Crimson Lake Trail is a hard hike in Idaho's Salmon-Challis National Forest, on the Challis-Yankee Fork Ranger District. The trail is about 5 miles long, with an elevation gain of about 1,300 feet, and it is an out-and-back route that climbs from roughly 7,000 feet to about 8,370 feet at its high point. The trail is on natural surface and is open to horses, so riders can take it as well as hikers. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. For a longer outing, the Cabin-Pioneer Creek hike lies about 2 miles away, and the West Fork Yankee Fork offers canoeing about 3.4 miles off. Fish Lake and Lightning Creek are both hikes within about 5 miles.
