Blow Out is a 4.1-mile out-and-back hike in Idaho's Caribou-Targhee National Forest, within the Palisades Ranger District. The trail rises from about 6,164 feet to 7,743 feet, a climb of roughly 1,500 feet, and is rated moderate. The Forest Service manages the land, and the route is natural-surfaced, with horses and bikes allowed. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Jackson, Wyoming, show July highs around 79°F with lows near 41°F, and snow is common from November through April. That station sits about 1,500 feet lower than the high point, so temperatures on the summit run cooler. Blowout Campground & Boat Ramp is about 1.7 miles away, and Spring Run 120 is about 1.6 miles off. Quaker Flat and Big Elk Campground & Group Area are both within about 2.5 miles.
