Baker Lake is a short, easy hike in Idaho's Cecil D. Andrus-White Clouds Wilderness, part of the Sawtooth National Recreation Area within the Sawtooth National Forest. The trail is about 0.6 miles long, with an elevation gain of 88 feet, and it makes an out-and-back trip from a low point of 8,387 feet to a high of 8,485 feet. The route is on natural surface, and it is open to both horses and bikes. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is open year-round. The closest neighbors are the Livingston Mill-Castle Divide and Boulder Chain Lakes, both within about a mile and a quarter. The Cecil D. Andrus-White Clouds Wilderness offers river fishing about 2.5 miles away, and the East Fork Salmon River is a canoeing option roughly 5 miles off.
