Arid Peak is an easy out-and-back hike of about 2.7 miles in the St. Joe Ranger District of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises about 165 feet from a low point of 5,252 feet to a high of 5,423 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Mullan Pass show July and August highs around 70°F with only about six wet days a month, while winter highs sit in the upper 20s. The trail is natural-surface and allows both horses and bikes. It is not an accessible route. Arid Peak Lookout campground is about a mile away, and the North Fork Saint Joe River offers canoeing about 2 miles off. Wonderful Peak and Mozier Peak are both hikes within about 2.4 miles.
