Beech Bottom is a 7.9-mile out-and-back hike in the Cohutta Wilderness of the Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forests, in Georgia's Cohutta Wildlife Management Area. The route rises from 1,411 feet to 1,789 feet, a climb of 437 feet, and is rated hard. The trail lies in the Conasauga Ranger District, managed by the State Department of Natural Resources. It is a natural-surface route, and horses are allowed, while bikes are not. Spring and fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Chatsworth run from highs around 72°F in April to 74°F in October, and that station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. Camping is close by at Cottonwood Patch Campground, about 4 miles away, and Jacks River Fields Campground is roughly 8 miles off. The Jacks River offers river fishing within about 3 miles, and the Rough Ridge hike is about 2 miles away.
