Red Trail, part of the trail network in Jonathan Dickinson State Park in Florida, is an easy hike of about 4.6 miles. The route lies almost entirely flat, with the trail starting and ending at about 12 feet, and the highest point on the way reaches 12 feet as well. The trail's climb is gentle, with the steepest section around mile 1.9 and a grade of about 2 percent. The park is managed by State Park and Recreation. Winter and early spring are the most comfortable times to go. A nearby weather station records typical average highs in the mid-70s from December through March, with only about seven wet days a month. Summer is hotter and wetter, with typical highs near 90 and around 16 to 17 wet days a month in July and August. The trail is open to both horses and bikes. The closest neighboring routes are the White Loop, about 2.4 miles away, and the Green Trail and Scrub Trail, both about 3.2 miles off. Climbers can head to Blowing Rock Preserve, about 5.2 miles away.
