Fr#1 is a 12.2-mile out-and-back hike in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Wilderness, part of Everglades National Park in Florida. The National Park Service manages the land, and the route is rated hard. The trail is flat, with no elevation gain, and it starts and ends at about 3 feet. The most comfortable months for a visit are winter and early spring. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show January highs around 78°F with lows near 55°F and about six wet days. Summer is hotter and wetter, with highs in the low 90s and 17 to 19 wet days a month from June through September. A fee is charged for the hike. Plan for a full day on foot, and bring supplies for a long walk in the wilderness. Nearby options include the Pinelands Trail, about 4.6 miles away, and the Three in One Hiking Trail and Fr#6, each about 5.2 miles off. Paddlers can reach the Nine Mile Pond Canoe Trail, roughly 9.4 miles away.
