Tri-State Marker Trail is a short, easy out-and-back hike in Connecticut, about half a mile from the town of East Thompson. The route is 0.6 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 81 feet, and it reaches a high point of 623 feet. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.09 miles from the start, where the grade reaches 9 percent. The trail is a quick outing, and the most comfortable months for a visit are typically late spring through early fall. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at W Thompson Lake show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 73°F, with July the warmest at about 82°F. That station sits roughly 260 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail run a little cooler. The Southern New England Trunkline Trail passes about 0.6 miles away, and the Midstate Trail is about 0.8 miles off. Climbers can head to Titanic Boulder, about 1.2 miles away, and paddlers can reach the Fivemile River, about 6 miles away.
