Split Rock Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut's Limekiln Natural Area, about 0.6 miles long and rising about 70 feet from start to finish. The route is a point-to-point walk, and the climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.06 miles from the start. The high point is 798 feet, and the trail ends a little lower, at about 709 feet. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Danbury show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 74°F, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. That station sits roughly 340 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the higher ground run a bit cooler. The trail makes an easy pairing with other short walks in the area. Boulder Trail, Gneiss Trail and The Lariat are all about 0.2 miles away. Climbers can find Slugs & Crickets Block about 0.3 miles off.
