The Richard Hyde Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 0.74 miles long and rising about 65 feet from start to finish. It is a point-to-point route, and the trail's highest point is 601 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.64 miles in, where the grade reaches 11 percent. The nearest town is Warrenville, about 1.5 miles away. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Storrs show May highs around 68°F and September highs around 73°F, with July the warmest month at about 80°F. The trail sits close to several other routes. The Friedman Forest Trail is just 0.1 mile away, and the Pinkham Red and Pinkham Yellow trails are within about half a mile. For an overnight stay, Charlie Brown Campground is about 3.2 miles off.
