Rankin Trail is an easy hike in Connecticut, about 0.5 miles from Warrenville. The route is roughly 1.5 miles long, and it climbs from a starting point at about 435 feet to a high point of 603 feet, with a total elevation gain of 204 feet. The climb is short, and the steepest stretch comes early on, around 0.28 miles in, where the grade reaches about 16%. Summer and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Storrs show July highs around 80°F with lows near 63°F, and September highs around 73°F. Several other trails sit within a few miles, including Richard Hyde Trail and Friedman Forest Trail, both about 2 miles away, and Pinkham Red Trail at about 2.4 miles. Charlie Brown Campground is about 3.6 miles off.
