Pachaug - Nehantic Crossover is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 2.5 miles from the town of Beachdale. The route is a point-to-point crossing, roughly 1.2 miles long, with a total elevation gain of 114 feet. It starts at about 440 feet and reaches a high point of 493 feet before descending slightly to around 373 feet. The climb is front-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 0.22 miles in, where the grade reaches 9%. The rest of the hike is gentle, making it a quick outing for anyone already on foot in the area. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Norwich show May highs around 70°F and September highs around 76°F, while July and August climb into the mid-80s. That station sits well below the trail, so temperatures on the crossover run cooler. The Nehantic Trail and Laurel Loop Trail both start about 0.1 mile away, and the Pachaug Trail is about 1.4 miles off. Climbers can find the North Shore area about 2.6 miles away.
