Golden Hill Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 1.3 miles from Pomfret Center. The trail is a point-to-point route of roughly 0.4 miles, with a steady climb of about 59 feet from a starting elevation of 417 feet to a high point of 458 feet. The steepest stretch comes at about 0.28 miles in, with a grade of about 7 percent. Late spring and early fall are the most comfortable times to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at W Thompson Lake show May highs around 69°F and September highs around 73°F, with July the warmest month at about 82°F. The trail sits close to several other outings. Bog Trail is just 0.1 mile away, and Clara, Emma and John's Loop is about 0.3 mile off. Mashamoquet Brook State Park, about 2.9 miles away, offers climbing, and West Thompson Lake Campground, about 6 miles away, is a place to stay.
