Cooper Lot Trail is a short, easy hike in Connecticut, about 1.3 miles long and rising about 168 feet from its starting point. It is a point-to-point route, and the climb is back-loaded, with the steepest stretch at about 1.1 miles in, where the grade reaches 10 percent. The trail's high point is 399 feet, and the route ends lower than it begins, with a total loss of 261 feet. The nearest town is Rockland, about 1.5 miles away. The trail is part of a small cluster of short hikes, with Goat Lot Trail just 0.1 mile away and Bushwack Trail about 0.2 mile off. Pine Trail lies roughly 0.7 mile away. For comfortable weather, late spring and early fall are the best bets. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Mt Carmel show May highs around 71°F and September highs around 76°F, with July the warmest month at about 85°F. The trip takes about half an hour, so it works well as a quick outing. Paddlers can reach the Hammonasset River about 2.3 miles away, and climbers will find Hammonasset Reservoir about 3.9 miles off.
