Maroon Creek Road is a short stretch of Forest Service road in Colorado's White River National Forest, within the Aspen Ranger District. It runs about 0.84 miles, from a low point of 8,372 feet to a high of 8,457 feet, with a total elevation gain of 80 feet and a slight drop of 163 feet along the way. The road is managed by the Forest Service, and the steepest section comes within the first 0.15 miles, with a grade of about 7 percent. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Aspen put July highs around 76°F and lows near 48°F, with June and August close behind. That station sits about 280 feet below the road, so temperatures here run a little cooler. Camping is right at hand: Silver Bar Campground is about 0.1 mile away and Silver Bell Campground about 0.2 mile. Lower Maroon Creek lies about a mile off, and Maroon Lake Scenic, a lake fishing spot, is about 4 miles away.
