Maroon Lake Trail is a short, low-elevation ski touring route in Colorado's White River National Forest, within the Aspen Ranger District. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is just 0.28 miles long, rising from 9,580 feet to 9,596 feet. It is a brief stretch of ground, with a total gain of 11 feet and a loss of 38 feet, so it works well as a connector or a stop on the way to other destinations in the area. The most comfortable months for a visit are typically June through September, when typical averages from a nearby weather station in Aspen run from highs around 71°F in June to about 76°F in July, with lows in the upper 40s. That station sits roughly 1,400 feet below the trail, so temperatures on the route run cooler. The Maroon-Snowmass Trail lies just 0.1 mile away, and North Maroon Peak is about 0.3 mile off. Maroon Lake Scenic, a lake fishing spot, is about 0.4 mile away. For an overnight stay, Silver Queen Campground is about 3.2 miles from the trail.
