Main Street Road is a short, easy cross-country ski route on Bureau of Land Management land in the Gunnison Field Office, about 0.87 miles long and roughly 160 feet of elevation gain one way. It starts at about 8,260 feet and reaches a high point of about 8,267 feet, with the steepest stretch at about 0.8 miles in, where the grade reaches about 6 percent. Winter is the natural season for skiing here. Typical averages from a nearby weather station in Gunnison show January highs around 26°F with lows near -6°F, while July and August run warmer, with highs in the upper 70s and lows in the low 40s.
