Loppet's Trail is a short, easy cross-country ski route in Colorado, about 0.9 miles long and rising about 67 feet from a low point of 8,619 feet to a high of 8,702 feet. The nearest town is Elkdale, about 3.5 miles away. The trail is a gentle outing, with the steepest stretch at about 0.37 miles in, where the grade reaches 3 percent. It is an easy option for a short ski, and the climb is minimal, with only about 67 feet of gain over the course of the route. Winter is the natural season for cross-country skiing here. Typical averages from the nearby Fraser weather station, at a similar elevation, show January highs around 31°F with lows near -1°F, while June and July run in the low to mid 70s. The station sits about 140 feet lower than the trail's high point, so temperatures on the trail may run slightly cooler. Loppet and Slim Jim, two other cross-country ski routes, both lie about 0.1 mile away. The Grand County / Fraser Valley climbing area is about 1.8 miles off, and St. Louis Creek Campground is about 6.2 miles away.
