West of Rustic is a climbing area in the Canyon Lakes Ranger District of the Arapaho and Roosevelt National Forests in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. It sits along the Cache La Poudre, Colorado Wild and Scenic River, about 1.3 miles from the Rustic weather station, which makes it a natural reference for planning a visit. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from the nearby Rustic station run from highs around 72°F in June to about 78°F in July, with lows in the upper 40s. Winters are cold, with January highs near 36°F and lows around 15°F. The Critical Mass Area is just 0.2 miles away, and Big Bend Campground is 0.3 miles off. Turtle Crag and Kingfin Crag are both about 0.4 miles away.
