Paleosol Wall is a climbing area in Colorado's Grand Valley Ranger District, part of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests. The Forest Service manages the land, and the wall sits among several other climbing spots in the district, including Misspent Youth Wall, about 0.1 mile away, and Dr. C's Classroom, about a mile off. The climbing here is sport, mixed and trad, with 30 routes in total. Grades run from 5.0 up to 5.12, and the median is 5.10a/b. Among the named routes are Open Project (5.0 sport), Mass Extinction (5.10a sport) and Roof Pendant (5.12 trad). The area also draws hikers, with Palisade Plunge about 0.3 mile away and Coal Creek Basin about a mile off. Summer is the most comfortable time to visit. Typical averages from a nearby weather station show July highs around 68°F with lows near 42°F, while January highs average about 26°F.
