Valley View is a hard hike of about 6 miles on the Hahns Peak-Bears Ears Ranger District of the Medicine Bow-Routt National Forest in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. The trail is an out-and-back with a one-way climb of about 1,000 feet, from a low point of roughly 7,577 feet to a high of about 8,592 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station at Spicer, CO, run to highs around 77°F in July and 76°F in August, with lows in the low 40s. Winter is cold, with January highs near 28°F. The trail is on natural surface and bikes are allowed. Two other hikes, Wrangler's Gulch Trail and Zig Zag, start about 0.2 miles away. Climbers can head to Blob Rock, about 1.8 miles off, and Dry Lake Campground is about 5 miles away.
