Sunrise is a 5-mile out-and-back hike on the Dillon Ranger District of the White River National Forest in Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. It is an easy trail that gains about 490 feet, starting at roughly 9,028 feet and reaching about 9,541 feet at the high point. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. A nearby weather station at Dillon records typical July averages of a 75°F high and a 38°F low, and September averages a 66°F high. Winter is much colder, with typical January highs around 31°F. The trail sits close to several other outdoor spots. The Prospector mountain biking trail is about 0.1 mile away, and the Lower Salt Lick Gulch trail is about 0.2 mile away. Old Dillon Reservoir #87, a lake fishing spot, and Heaton Bay Campground are each about 0.6 mile from the hike.
