Short Point Bench is a moderate hike of about 5.5 miles in the Grand Valley Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests in Colorado. The Forest Service manages the land, and the trail is natural-surfaced. The route is an out-and-back, with a low point of about 8,273 feet and a high of about 8,901 feet, and it gains about 625 feet in elevation one way. Horses are allowed on the trail, but bikes are not. That makes it a good fit for riders on horseback or on foot. Several other hikes sit close by. Short Point Cutoff is about 1.2 miles away, and Short Point is about 2.3 miles away. Kelso Mesa is about 3 miles off, and Long Point is about 4.4 miles away. For an overnight stay, Oak Cabin is about 6.2 miles from the trail.
