Kannah Crossing is a moderate out-and-back hike of about 5 miles in the Grand Valley Ranger District of the Grand Mesa, Uncompahgre and Gunnison National Forests in western Colorado, managed by the Forest Service. The trail rises about 130 feet from a low point of 10,670 feet to a high of 10,777 feet. Summer is the most comfortable time to go. Typical averages from a nearby weather station run to highs around 68°F in July and 64°F in August, with July lows near 42°F. That station sits about 900 feet lower than the trail, so temperatures on the hike run cooler. Bikes and horses are both allowed on the natural-surface route. The trail starts right alongside Scales Lake Road, about a tenth of a mile away, and Lions is a similar distance off. Spruce Grove Campground is about 1.5 miles away. Kannah Creek Wall, a climbing area, is about 6 miles off.
